On March 9, 2020, Gov. J.B. Pritzker declared a state of emergency for Illinois and on March 21, 2020 ordered a “shelter in place” directive. This directive closes all non-essential businesses and asks that the individuals quarantine themselves. Chicago Medical Research Institute, Inc., as a medical research facility, is considered an essential business and is able to remain open with limitation. Our priority is to our patients, staff, sponsors, and volunteers.
We at Chicago Medical Research Institute, Inc. are committed to providing our patients with exceptional care in a safe environment, within the restrictions placed upon us with social distancing and consciousness. We remain committed to advancing therapeutics in clinical research while also ensuring the safety of our patients.
Chicago Medical Research Institute, Inc. aims to do its part to curtail the transmission of COVID-19.
We hold ourselves to the highest industry standards of sanitation and cleanliness and follow the recommendations laid out by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
Chicago Medical Research Institute, Inc. Coronavirus Protection Plan:
– All staff, visitors, and patients are screened at the clinic entrance for flu-like symptoms, respiratory symptoms and risk-factors for COVID-19.
– We have taken the steps to confidentially measure the temperature of every person entering our clinic, including all staff on a daily basis. Those with elevated temperatures will not be allowed in the clinic and will be advised to contact their primary care physician or local emergency department via telephone for further management.
– As always, all surfaces and equipment are disinfected before and after use.
– Only essential employees will staff the clinic. All non-essential employees are already working from home.
– We are isolating all visitors in a private treatment rooms during their visits to limit unnecessary contact with others.
– Protective masks and gloves are worn during visits.
We continue to review and follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Chicago Department of Public Health, and other healthcare professionals on a regular basis. As such, we will make adjustments to our COVID-19 Protection Plan as necessary. Updates to our PP and policies will be made based on science and facts and advise from health care professionals.
We wish everyone the best of health and hope that during these trying times we continue to work together to limit the impact of COVID-19.
